    Rapiscan Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of OSI Systems, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets security and inspection systems worldwide. Our products are used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for weapons, explosives, drugs and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as, airports, border crossings, railway stations, sea ports and terminals, government and military installations and nuclear facilities.


    The Buyer is responsible for planning, scheduling and monitoring the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials purchases.


    Obtains materials using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels (i.e., Just in Time purchases, use of EOQ - Economic Order Quantities).

    Resolves discrepancies.

    Creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprisewide systems.

    Ensures material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized. Develops specifications for new contract orders.

    Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards.

    Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Evaluates vendor reliability and develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive.


    • Work with suppliers to ensure the required cost, quality and delivery targets (Total Cost of Ownership) are consistently met
    • Manage supplier and material life cycle, including product end of life, Design for Manufacture (DFM), New product introduction (NPI)
    • Interrogate and manage demand requests from all functions of the business
    • Identify, coordinate and implement cost down / cost elimination activities with the Supplier Development Manager
    • Raise and place Purchase Orders ensuring a high level of accuracy and adherence to contract terms
    • Eradicate supplier invoice queries
    • Assist and coordinate activities with Buyers on a day to day basis
    • Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork
    • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct
    • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem
    • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business


    • Proven ability to work well with others at all organisational levels, to organise and prioritise, and to participate on cross-functional teams
    • Experience in procurement and Supply Chain processes, including but not limited to quality management and financial analysis
    • Experience in supplier relationship management, performance monitoring and contractual obligations
    • A proven track record in working to; and meeting SLA’s
    • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience in ERP/MRP systems beneficial
    • Proven ability to understand and manipulate complex data sets
    • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
    • Education:
      • A Level
      • BTEC
      • CIPS Certificate Level (preferred)
