    We are looking for an experienced software manager with a strong architectural and technical background to lead the team of developers at the Stoke site to support new product development, turn-key and customised projects and the maintenance of the product line.

    The team consists of a development team at Stoke and several key remote workers that you will also be working in co-ordination with and collaborating with teams overseas. 

    The NII field is both interesting and challenging, the opportunity to work on large industrial equipment designed to meet the challenges of anti-narcotic smuggling can be very different from a classic software development company.



    • Develop, manage and maintain a high-quality software development team.
    • Guide, coach and mentor the software development engineers.
    • Provide project management and technical leadership for every aspect of software.
    • Supervise architecture and lead efforts to develop technical roadmaps in coordination with other groups and the Software Director.
    • Work closely with Engineers, Developers and Product Management throughout the organization.
    • Ensure top quality design reviews.
    • Supervise resource allocation to ensure delivery of business and personnel development goals.
    • Collaborate with Engineering project management, production project management to establish project delivery and development plans.
    • Manage and execute software development projects from start to finish.
    • Evaluate projects, develop and update schedules and supervise the projects progress.
    • Establish and stimulate software development standards and processes along with best practices for delivery of scalable and high-quality software based along Agile lines.
    • Establish and maintain a culture of test, building up the in-house test capabilities at the site.
    • Collaborate effectively with all team members as well as hold regular team meetings.
    • Develop relations with internal customers and colleagues to interpret requirements and broadcast progress and innovation.
    • Provide regular formal reports to the Director of Software

    • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem
    • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.



    As technical leadership is a component of this role in depth technical knowledge of the Windows stack, including C++, C#, .NET, SQL. Knowledge of robust distributed communication systems such as Windows Communication Foundation, MQ, Web.API is advantageous as our systems are becoming securely networked over large geographical areas. The move to cloud-based computing is less compelling in this field however any experience in the field is advantageous.


    Critical to the role are people and programme management skills. The applicant needs good soft skills to work both with the team and internal and external customers. As well as solid programme management.


    A willingness to travel infrequently overseas to visit projects and work collaboratively is essential.
