    This Sustaining Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for engineering support of the assigned product portfolio with a primary focus on sustaining engineering support and New Product Introductions (NPIs).

     

    Responsibilities

    • Sustaining engineering responsibilities include supporting the existing product portfolio through product and process improvements, quality indictor management and improvements, cost reduction identifications, alternative component selection and approval, and customer issue resolutions.
    • New Product Introduction (NPI) responsibility includes collaboration with the R&D team to ensure new products are manufacturable, testable, serviceable, and reliable. Drive line design and process development which are in-line with established lean principles; Implement quality metrics during early production phases; transition new product into sustaining engineering.
    • Complete root cause and failure analysis for field failure problems related to design or product.
    • Create and drive Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) required to support product and process changes and supplier related part specifications and/or design issues.
    • Own, develop, and drive factory improvement/manufacturing processes. Create and execute process plans and verifications through validation activities (IQ, OQ, PQ).
    • Design/Develop/Select and qualify applicable production tooling/equipment necessary to support required production demand.
    • Support/facilitate factory layout design and flow for improved throughput and efficiency.
    • Drive technical disposition of non-conforming material during the manufacturing process.
    • Maintain the integrity and quality of our products, ensuring conformance to specifications and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FDA, MDD, UL, CSA, etc.
    • Ensure that safe operating procedures are developed, communicated, and followed by all personnel.

    Qualifications

    • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other related technical field, or 2-year technical Associates degree with at least 2 years of directly related work experience (4 years of directly related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement).
    • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.  Overall relevant experience determines level; 0-3 years of manufacturing engineering experience for level 1 (3-5 years for level 2; 5+ years’ experience for level 3.
    • Experience working in a regulated industry (FDA-controlled, medical device) environment is highly desirable.
    • Ability to use statistical analysis to characterize factory issues and drive improvements (MiniTab preferred).
    • Solidworks proficiency highly desirable.
    • Ability to manage multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes. Project management and problem-solving skills.
    • Competency in computer skills: MS Office applications, query and networking tools, and enterprise database systems.
    • Ability to work independently and proactively with minimal supervision.
    • Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with global time zones. May require attending late night/early morning meetings to meet global business needs.
    • Up to 10% travel may be required, including international. Must be able to acquire all necessary travel documents.
