    Advanced Photonix, a division of OSI Optoelectronics, is seeking a Quality Engineer to define, implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and methods for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.



    • Manage quality assurance protocols and the compliance thereof in manufacturing and test environments. Provide Quality Engineering support for the production of optoelectronic assemblies, parts and processes. Monitor and report on production status as it relates to quality assurance operations and tests.
    • Provide customer interface and expertise to proactively assure requirements and expectations are understood and satisfied, including contract review and requirements flow-down, source inspections, management of complaint returns resolution; including failure analysis, root cause, and corrective action determination. Assist with quotes for new opportunities. Define qualification and lot acceptance plans.
    • Develop and analyze statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas. Review shipments and approve acceptance to ship. Drive key quality performance metrics: OTD, Cost of Quality, Customer Scorecards, Internal Audits, Risk and Effectiveness.
    • Lead Quality Engineering assessment and presentation of key performance metrics. Analyze organizational quality metrics and perform periodic reviews to evaluate results and recommend action.
    • Facilitate first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
    • Define inspection methods in accordance with regulatory and customer requirements. Create and implement quality assurance training programs and conduct training in quality-related topics. Perform audits of product and processes.
    • Generate, review and approve document changes.
    • Support the Supply Chain Management organization and external providers to assure that incoming products meet the requirements.

    • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.
    • Ensure that direct report(s) are trained and evaluated on their knowledge and adherence to the company’s values, Code of Ethics and Conduct, and applicable compliance policies.


    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (highly desired).
    • 1+ years of increasing experience in Quality Engineering  in an electronic manufacturing industry.
    • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
    • Thorough understanding of problem solving methods, (i.e. RCCA, 8D, etc.) and the associated statistical tools used to analyze problems, evaluate and complete improvement projects.
    • Detailed knowledge of industry and customer specific quality registration schemes and certification processes (i.e. AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IPC-610, IPC J-STD-001, MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-750, MIL-PRF-19500, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen experience).
    • Basic knowledge of gauging and basic understanding of product material properties (MP&P) preferred.
    • Understanding of engineering design and product reliability concepts and tool sets.
    • Competence with measuring tools (e.g., optical measurement microscope, calipers, pin gage, comparator, microscope reticle, digital multi-meter).
    • Ability to effectively read, write and communicate using the English language.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Visio); Mini-Tab. Design of Experiments (the methodology).
    • Manufacturing inventory software knowledge, a plus.
