    In this position the qualified applicant will work with supply chain management, manufacturing and engineering to facilitate and manage successful supplier partnerships. You will maintain thorough communication and cross-functional activities to achieve exceptional levels of supplier performance and manage nonconformance and corrective action activities to ensure successful resolution of problems. You will also maintain supplier performance metrics and measurements, facilitate product and process improvements, cycle time and cost reductions, and manage compliance to quality requirements. You will also provide engineering and technical assistance to suppliers as required.

     

    American Science and Engineering, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in its Billerica, MA Facility.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Perform new supplier qualifications and periodic process audits – preparing detailed reports listing areas of risk, observation and areas for improvement.
    • Act as the technical liaison between AS&E and suppliers to ensure requirements are understood and complied with.
    • Provide technical support to incoming inspection personnel and maintaining incoming inspection plans.
    • Acquire first article/piece data of all new/revised design parts to assure the producer is capable of meeting the specifications.
    • Develop first article approval plans as required to support incoming new/revised design parts.
    • Work with suppliers to ensure accurate root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
    • Actively participate in product development activities and product design reviews and ensure quality and reliability requirements are embedded in the design.
    • Work with supporting departments to ensure nonconforming conditions are quickly acted upon, appropriate dispositions are established and disruptions to the production line are minimized
    • Maintain data collection activities and run reports on a periodic basis to summarize data and to initiate and recommend continual improvement activities.
    • As necessary, train internal and external personal on AS&E standards, requirements and continuous improvement tools.

    Qualifications

    • BS Degree; Engineering / Technical degree a plus; or equivalent business experience. 
    • 7 years minimum work experience in a quality and/or manufacturing role with complex capital equipment.
    • Strong analytical and technical skills are necessary to interpret specifications and drawings and perform problem solving and data analysis leading to improvement initiatives.
    • Working knowledge of ISO9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
    • Very strong quality improvement background, applying statistical tools, process FMEAs and root cause problem solving.
    • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications and general database.
    • Experience leading Process Improvement Teams and managing major projects.
    • ASQ certifications of CQE and CQA are a plus.
