    This Desktop Architect is responsible for architecting, maintaining, standardizing and supporting a large, highly complex and geographically distributed desktop infrastructure. This position will serve as the lead technical resource for all end point devices (desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, etc.) owned and operated by OSI Systems and its’ subsidiaries worldwide. This position will lead technical aspects of hardware and software configuration, testing and deployment. Performs root cause analysis for service interruption recovery; creates preventative measures consistent with guidance from management. Role will serve as the technical lead for enterprise level desktop projects and as the technical liaison between desktop support and other IT teams. 

    Responsibilities

    • Architects, builds and maintains the desktop computing environment based on strategic and security related goals as directed by management
    • Installs, configures, tests, maintains, monitors, and troubleshoots end-user workstations and related hardware and software in order to meet or exceed service levels. This includes security patches, client software, software updates, and new software deployments. Assists ith break/fix tickets
    • Serves as the technical lead for all desktop matters at OSI. In this capacity responds to Technicians' requests for assistance, researches and solves technical matters brought to his/her attention
    • Responsible for building and maintaining images and test labs
    • Work with cross-functional IT team and assist with the implementation of enterprise wide projects, roll-outs, and testing. Coordinate efforts with local and worldwide IT Desktop Support staff to ensure solutions are fully tested and full/site company roll-outs is completed
    • Researches, tests and resolves hardware and software issues affecting the enterprise.
    • Maintains asset inventory of all desktop hardware and software. Maintains accurate records and enforces software licenses compliance. Audits Desktop Technicians (in all regions) adherence to standards such as use of standard image, naming convention, security related configurations, etc. Enforces use of aforementioned standards

    Qualifications

     

    • High School diploma or equivalent. College degree preferred, including 2 year technical associate degree will be considered.
    • 5-7 years technical experience with common desktop hardware and software, with 2 + years’ in depth experience building and managing geographically distributed IT Infrastructure for large enterprises using best practice methodologies. This includes, but is not limited to, systems and applications designed to assure a highly available and secure end point computing environment.
    • Basic understanding of Microsoft licensing and ITIL framework required.
    • Must possess an in depth technical understanding of IT Infrastructure components (Databases, SAN Storage, Systems, Network and applications), and the interdependencies they have on each other and on end point devices, as well as a high level of understanding of other IT disciplines such as Databases, SAN Storage, Systems, Network and Applications.
    • Ability to configure, deploy and effectively use remote desktop, software distribution and imaging tools such as MDT, SCCM, Shavlik, etc. required.
    • An in depth understanding of desktop and mobile operating systems such as Windows (XP, 7, 10), IOS, Android is required.
    • Must have MS Windows OS & Microsoft Office suite experience. M365 experience highly desired.
    • Experience with mobile devices and platforms such as Windows Mobile, IOS and Android highly desirable.
    • Certifications such as MCSE Specialist Windows 7, MCSE Specialist Windows 10, MCSE Desktop Infrastructure and MCSA Office 365 highly preferred.
    • Familiarity with enterprise level security software such as anti- virus and encryption is required, and familiarity with Linux desktop operating systems, such as Open Suse, preferred.
    • Skilled at reading, writing, and interpreting technical documentation and procedure manuals.
    • High Attention to detail and excellent customer service skills required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to travel up to 20%.
