    The SCE is the primary contact between Spacelabs and the supplier regarding product quality and delivery and driving improved performance. SCEs evaluate supplier performance, work with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality to prioritize improvements needed for incoming products and/or services; the SCE then works with suppliers to implement action plans to meet Spacelabs’ incoming quality, reliability and delivery requirements.


    • Ensure complete and effective quality assurance/control plans are implemented at suppliers for purchased products; ensure actions to improve quality plans are implemented at suppliers to minimize and mitigate risk to Spacelabs.
    • Ensure measurement system evaluations are completed and acceptable for Spacelabs products.
    • Provides input to Receiving Inspection and Operations Engineering when additional incoming evaluation controls are needed at Spacelabs to mitigate medium and higher risks of product non-conformances.
    • Drive timely and effective supplier corrective and preventive action on non-conforming purchased product.
    • With suppliers, identify opportunities to improve quality and productivity; ensure improvement plans are identified and executed at suppliers regarding problematic parts received by Spacelabs.
    • Participate, and lead where appropriate, in re-sourcing efforts (moving product from one supplier to another).
    • Ensure supplier change requests are evaluated and responded to in a timely manner.
    • Supports and carries out assignments to achieve commodity strategies.
    • Support new supplier evaluation, selection and approval.
    • Supplier baseline assessment and gap analysis particularly focused on manufacturing, special processes, in –process control and final acceptance.
    • Participate as required in supplier audits and assessments.

    • It is the responsibility of every Spacelabs Healthcare employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
    • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.


    •  Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or related field); or 4 years related experience
    • 3+ years in a technical or quality role
    • Working knowledge of Process Excellence Tools (Six Sigma & Lean)
    • Strong analytical skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work well cross-culturally and cross-functionally
    • Ability to evaluate processes and determine process capability
    • Working knowledge of ISO9000, ISO13485, and/or 21 CFR part 820
    • Proficient use of MS Office tools, Visio and statistical analysis tools
    • Understanding of ERP and other workflow database software
    • Green or Black Belt certification preferred
    • CQE or CQM preferred
    • Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with different time zone needs such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet business needs.
    • Domestic travel required <5%.  Must travel internationally and be able to acquire all necessary travel documents
