The Buyer/Planner works with suppliers to fulfill requirements by placing orders and maintaining order schedules to signals driven by the Master Production Schedule and customer Sales Orders. The Buyer/Planner III will also be expected to coordinate/support activities with the Global Supply Chain Management Team in implementing best practices in the development, ownership and maintenance of global supply chain business relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze material requirements and planning reports to establish an optimal supply of material to support a Demand Base Flow Manufacturing pull system.
  • Expedite material shortages with emphasis on problem / high-risk parts.
  • Negotiate with suppliers on delivery, quality, costs and packaging, securing both short and long term commitments.
  • Resolve any issues causing non-conformances that lead to parts not being successfully processed into production inventory.
  • Maintain accuracy of Purchase Order details to allow for accurate manufacturing planning and supplier performance monitoring of On-Time Delivery.
  • Assist as required in supporting the efforts of the Global Supply Chain Management team to develop, communicate, gain agreement on and implement commodity strategies designed to achieve the highest quality products and services while achieving product cost objectives.
  • Facilitate and coordinate supplier corrective actions and liabilities.
  • Support all Supply Chain Engineering and Supply Chain Quality Activities for assigned commodities.
  • Maintain market awareness with respect to supply vs. demand and technology trends.
  • Support tasks may include but are not limited to internal and external benchmarking and cost analysis, support of New Product Development and ongoing product change management, strategy and commodity leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field. 4 years of directly related work experience can substitute for education.  
  • A minimum of 2-4 years purchasing or materials management experience, with at least 2 years in an electronics production environment. 
  • Strong related functional industry experiences can partially substitute.  Experience in medical device or other industry operating under regulatory requirements preferred.
  • Strong experience across a broad range of commodities preferred.
  • Experience planning MRP or demand pull production schedule that meets customer and business needs.
  • Working knowledge of advanced manufacturing techniques, DFx, Lean, Six Sigma preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and meet the deadlines. 
  • Strong follow-through, proactive planner, can-do attitude, results oriented. 
  • Excellent communication skills across organization and with various stakeholders. 
  • Agile and ERP system users preferred, advanced in Excel and SharePoint.
