American Science and Engineering, an OSI Systems Company is seeking Senior Buyer/Planner in its Billerica, MA Facility.

The person in this role is will be responsible for the material supply of multiple product lines, working closely and cross-functionally to achieve all production objectives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors.
  • Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
  • Determines purchase quantity and delivery schedule.
  • Processes purchase orders and contracts.
  • Assures that items are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and conform to specifications.
  • Assures that items are received properly, coordinates the resolution of issues as they arise.
  • Coordinates the return of non-conforming material to suppliers.
  • Manages Purchase Order records for accuracy and up-to-date delivery information.
  • Provides weekly status reports to management on open orders, cost savings, RTVs, projects and accomplishments.
  • Analyzes, updates and maintains master data including standard costs, safety stock levels, minimum order quantities, lead-times for responsible commodities.
  • Work within documented procurement / planning system that complies with ISO guidelines.

  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • An enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude thriving in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • BA in Business or equivalent with 8-10 years purchasing/planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of Supply Chain or Operations field.
  • APICS certification or equivalent is preferred
  • Must have Oracle Purchasing/MRP experience.
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite. Strong knowledge of Excel; able to analyze spreadsheet data. 
  • Must be US Persons based on ITAR definition (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)**This position is expected to be exposed to information which is subject to US export control regulations, i.e. the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of U.S. regulations.
