The Supervisor Telecom Engineering plans the administration and implementation of OSI Systems’ telecommunications services in order to improve productivity and minimize costs for Global IT/Telecom operations.  Supervises a small US team.



  • Configure and optimize telephone systems and services, PBX communication systems, voicemail, and video conferencing, internally and with Internet services.
  • Coordinate strategies for in-house voice, data and video equipment and related network connections
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all telecommunications equipment.
  • Perform routine administrator maintenance functions to maintain the health of all telecommunications equipment, i.e. backups, cleanup, firmware/software updates, hardware/software upgrades, etc.
  • Initiate, manage and complete requests for new voice and data telecom services.
  • Provide services in a timely, cost-effective manner while proactively anticipating the business needs of OSI’s internal customers.
  • Develop best methodologies for installation, support and configuration for efficient voice and data services operations.
  • Create and maintain a disaster recovery plan for telecommunications.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure telecommunications, data, wireless and cable TV products and services. Manage provider services to ensure timely delivery, availability and performance of products.
  • Maintain telecom hardware and software, and monitor networks to ensure maximum availability to system users.
  • Develop and enforce mobile and land line phone related policies and procedures for employees; including global usage.
  • Lead the telecom team – set expectations; give feedback and coaching; provide assignments, priorities and deadlines; ensure training and compliance with procedures and deliverables
  • Prepare weekly and monthly voice reports.
  • Provide escalation support to Global Call Center for telecom issues.

  • It is the responsibility of every Spacelabs Healthcare employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.


  • Bachelor Degree in technical/computer-related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in telecom and/or networking field, with minimum 2 years’ experience installing and administering VOIP systems (ShoreTel experience preferred).
  • Technical experience required:
    • Troubleshooting voice and data networking issues
    • High-speed data circuit types, i.e. data rate speeds (PRI, T1, DS3, OC3) and telecommunications hardware (Shoretel VOIP, Avaya, Cisco switches)
    • Voice lines and associated services available, i.e. Remote Call Forwarding, Caller-ID, Centrex features, etc.
    • Cross-domain experience in the following IT areas: Desktop, Networking and Telecom
    • Networking
    • Extensive knowledge of Windows computer hardware and software
  • Previous Call Center, Customer Service or Help Desk experience preferred.
  • Excellent customer services skills in order to work with telecommunications service providers, various vendors, and employee users.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access database. Able to create and deliver presentations to Company management.
  • Attention to detail / organized approach to work. Able to receive and follow instructions and assignments, and meet given priorities. Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience assigning work and delivering results through others. Team/project management experience a plus.
  • Must be able to complete job responsibilities working with different time zone needs such as attending late night/early morning meetings by phone and/or web to meet global business needs.
