Senior Supplier Quality Engineer: Interfaces with development and supplier engineering to provide materials and components for company product manufacturing. Communicates product specifications to suppliers and assesses supplier's ability to meet engineering and quality requirements. Evaluates suppliers' internal functions to assess their overall performance and provides feedback in assessment of their operation. Qualifies suppliers according to company standards and may administer a Certified Supplier Program in receiving inspection to ensure cost effectiveness. Monitors parts from acquisition through the manufacturing cycle and communicates and resolves supplier-related problems as they occur. Develops and prioritizes an auditing schedule to ensure that designated suppliers are audited on a regular basis to ensure good manufacturing practices (GMP) and quality standards are met. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver strategic direction in developing the supply chain.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensures advanced product quality planning compliance throughout the product maturity cycle
  • Perform supplier audits
  • Evaluates supplier capability and quality management system assessments and recommends improvement actions to address gaps
  • Exceptional problem solving/avoidance capability
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration to achieve supplier performance target
  • Managing supplier performance data and metrics and championing improvement initiatives (i.e., ppm reduction, zero defects, return to green)
  • Manages and maintains supplier ratings, monitors monthly performance and recommends actions to reward top performing suppliers and identify, improve or remove poor performing suppliers
  • Developing risk mitigation plans for poor performing suppliers
  • Monitoring ASL and SQE supplier assignments to ensure sufficient coverage across supply base
  • Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct
  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

     

Qualifications

 

  • Must have a positive proactive attitude to work, be self motivated, and have good literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • 3-5 years experience as a Quality Engineer or Supplier Quality Engineer in an Engineering Environment (preferably automotive or aerospace)
  • Experience with New Product Introduction responsibilities desirable.
  • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100 and ISO14001 standards also desirable
  • Trained Auditor to ISO9000

    Higher National Diploma or Degree in Engineering/Science discipline.

    Proficient at interpreting Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Drawings.

    Clean Driving License.

    Lean and or Six Sigma experience would be an advantage.
